On the 3-6th of November 2011 VII International Contest of young jazz performers took place in Rostov-on-Don, which was devoted to the 75th birthday of Kim Nazaretov. The Contest was held with the assistance of the Ministry for Culture of Russia and the Government of Rostov region.

150 people at the age of 15-30 years old had applied for participating, of whom 58 applicants had been selected. Those had included representatives of Israel, the Ukraine and Byelorussia, as well as of such Russian cities as St. Petersburg, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Samara, Saratov, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don.

The jury includes:

Chief juryman - Igor Boutman (Russia), saxophonist, band-leader, People’s Artist of RF, Russian State Prize Laureate.

Aram Rustamyants  (Russia) - pianist, composer, Director Gen. of Kim Nazaretov educational concert association.

Sergey Davydov (Ukraine) is a pianist, composer, associate professor of Kharkov National University of Arts.

Doron Rafaeli (Israel) – composer, arranger, drummer and percussionist .

Valeriy Kolesnikov (Ukraine) – trumpet player, professor of Jazz Department of S. Prokofyev Donets Conservatory.

Adam Teratsuyan (Russia) - contrabassist, associate professor, head of the variety jazz department of Rostov College of Arts.

Alex Kantsberg (Israel) - Teacher of the Music Department of B. Katsnelson Higher School.

Andrey Berdnikov (Russia) - guitarist, associate professor of S. V. Rakhmaninov Rostov State Conservatory, laureate of international jazz festivals.

Of our pupils the following became laureates Samvel Sarkisyan (percussion) – 2 award and Artyem Avanesov (acoustic bass) 3 award.

Graduates from Kim Nazaretov Jazz School also took part in the contest; these days they are students of Rostov College of Arts and S. Rakhmaninov Rostov State Conservatory::

Ilya Ageyev (saxophone), 2nd award;

Mikhail Balanov (acoustic piano) – дипломант;

Fyodor Stepanov (contrabass) – winner of the prize.
